Chris Shultz Joins California Bankers Association as Vice President of Government Relations

Sacramento, Calif., January, 14, 2025 – The California Bankers Association (CBA) is pleased to announce that Chris Shultz has joined the association as vice president of government relations.

“Chris brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career in public service,” said Jason Lane, senior vice president and director of government relations. “In this role, he will advocate for the banking industry on a wide range of issues impacting the banking industry.”

Before joining CBA, he served as Chief Deputy Director for the California Housing Finance Agency and previously as Chief Deputy Commissioner for the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation. Shultz also held the role of Chief Deputy Director at the California Department of Consumer Affairs.

Earlier in his career, he was a contract lobbyist in Oregon, advocated for a technology trade association in California, and was a chief of staff and legislative director in the state capitol.

“I am excited to join the California Bankers Association,” said Shultz. “I look forward to collaborating with such a dedicated and talented team to enhance the crucial efforts of California banks in serving their customers and communities.”

Shultz holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of the Pacific and earned an MBA at Sacramento State University College of Business.
